Ashish Bhatnagar joins MyDala.com as Chief Technology Officer

19 January, 2010
MyDala.com, which features a daily deal on ‘best’ stuff to do, see, eat and buy in major cities across India, has appointed Ashish Bhatnagar as chief technology officer. Prior to joining MyDala, Bhatnagar was director engineering at Ibibo.com.

Anisha Singh, founder and CEO, MyDala.com, has said, “MyDala is pioneering an online experience which has never been made possible in India before, and we believe Ashish’s insight and experience in digital and social media will help us actualize our potential to the fullest.”

Launched in November 2009, MyDala.com currently offers its services in Delhi and Mumbai with plans to add Bangalore later this month. The company also intends to cover other major cities across India. MyDala.com has about 25 people in its Delhi office.

MyDala claims to offer ‘unbeatable prices and deep discounts’ ranging from 35 to 80 per cent through the ‘power of group buying’. According to the company, group buying happens when like minded people come together to get deals that “we can never get on our own as individuals”.

" One funny thing is that even newspapers are not paid. I mean no newspaper would survive without advertising revenues. By paying one buck for a newspaper that requires at least 9 to 10 rupees to be made, people are not paying for the content. So, why speak about paying for online news? "
