16 April, 2009
Sify Technologies has partnered with Singapore-based travel search engine Sprice.com to power its travel search service. According to Sify, visitors to Sify.com will now be able to compare offers on various hotels, check the customer reviews and make booking from a host of travel products available on internet.

Venkata Rao Mallineni, head, portals and consumer marketing, Sify Technologies, has said, “With an increased number of people moving to internet for buying travel related products we decided to launch travel search that functions as one-stop-shop for all travel requirements. We are happy to have a partner like Sprice.com that has a deep understanding of travel search business and has an enviable track record of delivering best-of-the-class solutions.”

Vikas Gulati, vice president, marketing, Asia Pacific, Sprice.com, has said, “Our research shows that an average consumer researches minimum five websites before booking a hotel or an air ticket, however, this doesn’t always ensure the availability of best deals. Our revolutionary travel technology cuts travellers’ research time by offering the fastest access to the cheapest deals in an easy-to-navigate user interface.”

All the partners of sprice are still the same TG,MMT,Travelocity kind of in India. While if you check all these sites individually all of them typically list same hotels in all cities with little price variations. To get into interiors sprice should try consider site like IHR etc which puts in other destinations besides metros and prime locations on tourism map.

" One funny thing is that even newspapers are not paid. I mean no newspaper would survive without advertising revenues. By paying one buck for a newspaper that requires at least 9 to 10 rupees to be made, people are not paying for the content. So, why speak about paying for online news? "
