AmazingThailand.co.in launched to promote Thailand as a tourist destination

27 January, 2009
Tourism Authority of Thailand, New Delhi has launched AmazingThailand.co.in, an India-centric website that aims to create awareness about tourist destinations in Thailand and targets primarily first time tourists from India.

According to Indigo Consulting, which has conceptualized and developed the website, AmazingThailand.co.in provides all relevant information -- like exciting destinations, places to stay, things to do, weather reports and important events -- that an Indian tourist planning a visit to Thailand requires.

“The current phase (of AmazingThailand.co.in) focuses mainly on educating an Indian tourist about Thailand,” Anurag Bhagat, business director, Indigo Consulting, has said. “The Phase II of the website would be launched soon and will include features such as planners, bookings and far greater degree of interactive elements and community features.”

“Looking at the number of Indians who use internet to plan their holidays or look for tourist related information, it was imperative for us to have a significant presence in the internet,” Chattan Ayudhya, head of Tourism Authority of Thailand in India, has said.

“Thailand offers much more than Bangkok and Phuket -- the most popular tourist destinations amongst Indians,” Chattan Ayudhya has added. “The website will help popularize other tourist destinations as well in the country.”

Tourism Authority of Thailand was set up with the responsibility of promoting Thailand as a tourist destination. TAT started its New Delhi office in 2002. The importance of India could be underlined by the fact that close to a million Indian tourists travel to Thailand every year.
