Amul to set up its virtual production facility in Second Life
05 June, 2008
Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, which has already set up Amul virtual ice cream parlour in Second Life, is now planning to buy eight to ten islands, equal to 160 acres of virtual land, in the 3D online virtual world to set up a simulation of its production and distribution facility.
“The objective behind launching a virtual setup is to demonstrate its functioning to the consumers, and experiment with any change in the production or distribution system virtually before executing it in the real world,” Rahul Dutta, chairman and managing director, Trimensions, has said. One can’t keep on doing the same stuff over and over again across all kinds of brands. Every brand has a unique feature and this needs to be attributed through innovative marketing initiatives. Unless the people working in this medium can innovate, spends will not grow on internet. "
