Auto portal CarWale.com has been relaunched with a new design that aims to break the growing misperception amongst its users that CarWale is primarily a used-car listing website. CarWale.com now wants to position itself as a leading auto portal that focuses on research and information related to new cars.

“According to our research, 80 per cent of CarWale users perceived us as a used-car listing website. Whereas, 85 per cent of our content is focused on research and information related to new cars and used-car content consumes the rest 15 per cent,” Banwari Lal Sharma, assistant vice president, product and search marketing, CarWale.com has told AlooTechie.

“We realized that the home page, which earlier provided a search box and was devoid of any sort of content was primarily responsible for this perception,” Sharma has added. To address the misperception, the homepage of CarWale.com now provides a bigger new-car search box compared to a smaller used-car search box.

Besides, CarWale.com has also integrated new-car related content under sections on road test, featured car, upcoming car, hot comparison along with a tips and advice section. The homepage also houses discussion forum and used-car reviews at the bottom.

According to Banwari Lal Sharma, CarWale.com currently gets 20 million page views and 1.6 million unique visitors per month. The website has a registered user-base of 1.2 million users. Sharma further informed that the company plans to increase the geography of its new-car sale services to various Indian cities including Chennai, Bangalore, Pune and Indore. CarWale currently provides its services in Mumbai and New Delhi.

They all copied CarWale.com, but remember one thing there is a huge difference between copying an idea and the way you execute that idea, and I think that CarWale is far far ahead from these crappy sites in the way to execute that idea
