MSN India tweets most frequently; MTV India attracts most followers: Study

According to a study by Iffort Consulting, MSN India has so far posted maximum number of tweets (about 40,000), while MTV India is the most followed brand on Twitter with more than 62,000 followers. The study also reveals that ICICI Bank is the most conversational brand on Twitter (98% tweets) and Tata Docomo is the most Re-tweeted brand in India (31% tweets).

The study, which profiles 66 companies from 9 different verticals, was conducted to find out how companies in India are using twitter for variety of purposes. According to Iffort Consulting, Twitter usage picked up slowly in India, but today India ranks in the list of top 10 countries in terms of twitter users.

BookMyShow.com emerged as the oldest Indian brand on Twitter as it has been active on the micro-blogging site since October 2007. Apollo Hospitals found its place amongst top inactive Indian brands on Twitter as it has not tweeted since July 2009.

MSN India's twitter account is setup using twitter-feed which automates the tweets from the news site every time it is published. The popularity of MTV India on Twitter mirrors the brand’s popularity amongst the youth and also the fact that India's twitter audience comprises of youngsters. ICICI Bank was found to be primarily using its Twitter account for responding to queries from both current and prospect customers.
