NDTV.com implements Tell-a-Friend app to promote its content via word of mouth
30 December, 2008
NDTV Convergence has partnered with widget developer SocialTwist to promote its content online via word of mouth. The association allows NDTV.com’s web pages to be powered by a Tell-a-Friend button that enables NDTV content to be shared through email, instant messengers, blogs, social networks and bookmarking sites.
According to SocialTwist, the Tell-a-Friend application has the capability to pick up relevant content from NDTV’s page and make content-rich messages with excerpt text and photo of the story. This application results in building attentive audience based on personalized recommendation.
Sanjay Trehan, CEO, NDTV Convergence, has said, “NDTV.com is one of the first portals to implement TaF (Tell-a-Friend) across its verticals. Till recently, we have received over 10,000 content referrals through the application. We believe this unique social marketing offering will prove to be an effective means in delivering value to our customers and increasing content circulation”
“The NDTV experience strengthens our belief that in the age of Web2.0, Tell-a-Friend can make a significant impact on the existing marketing initiatives of online portals,” Jay Pullur, CEO, SocialTwist, has said. “By having users promote content so easily, NDTV is creating many Citizen Evangelists for their content.”

One can’t keep on doing the same stuff over and over again across all kinds of brands. Every brand has a unique feature and this needs to be attributed through innovative marketing initiatives. Unless the people working in this medium can innovate, spends will not grow on internet. "
