Online portals advertising in Print jumps 89% in Jan-Jul 2008: AdEx

Internet portals advertising in Print went up by 89 per cent in terms of column centimetres during January-July 2008, as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, according to a study by AdEx India, a division of TAM Media Research. Advertising of internet portals on newspapers and magazines was in the ratio of 95:5 during Jan-July 2008.

Portals related to ‘Travel and Tourism’ garnered the maximum, 41 per cent, share of overall internet portals advertised in Print, followed by ‘General’ and ‘B2C & Online Shopping’ websites with 23 and 22 per cent share respectively. Jobs, matrimony and real estate related portals were responsible for generating ten, two and one per cent share respectively during Jan-Jul’08.

The Top 10 websites -- Ezeego1.com, Shine.com, MakeMyTrip.com, TravelGuru.com, IndianFantasyLeague.com, Indiatimes Shopping (Shopping.Indiatimes.com), Cleartrip.com, Naukri.com, 24x7guru.com, MyIndianGirl.com -- contributed more than half (53 per cent) of overall internet portals advertised in Print during Jan-Jul 2008, the study reveals. Real estate portals as

1. only magicbricks was advertising on print and that being a times group company got the advt at really low or null prices

2. 99acres and indiaproperty and makaan were focusing online

Share of real estate portals in print advertising is just 1%? It is a surprising finding. Can we say that these numbers are directly related to market size and penetration?
