11 March, 2010
RozgarDuniya.com, a joint initiative by Monster.com and ITC e-Choupal, is claimed to have attracted 325 live jobs postings by 38 companies from different verticals such as construction, banking, insurance, retail and security that hired over 100 rural jobseekers through the portal. The initiative was launched in August 2009 with the objective of linking rural youth to job opportunities in Indian corporate sectors.
According to Monster.com, RozgarDuniya.com was initially launched as a pilot project in 619 ITC e-Choupals covering 3,095 villages in western UP. Now, RozgarDuniya.com is entering into its next phase in which the job portal will scale up its operations to 1,817 ITC e-Choupals covering about 10,000 villages across four states in India -- UP, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
“It is heartening to see how technology can transform lives,” Sanjay Modi, managing director, Monster India, Middle East and South East Asia, has said. “RozgarDuniya.com has become a one-stop-shop for companies to hire skilled and semi skilled labour from rural India whilst connecting them with the corporate recruitment drive.”
“The level of excitement and awareness that the Monster.com and ITC’s collaboration has created with the employment interactions are tremendous. ITC e-Choupals created history by bringing internet to villages and now with the launch of RozgarDuniya.com, along with Monster.com, the effect definitely means better days ahead for all of us,” Kripal Singh, Sanchalak (manager) of an e-Choupal kiosk at Rampur Hira village in UP’s Shahjanpur district, has said.
