SimplyLearnt.com offers entrance test preparation content from coaching institutes

Noida-based Kamal Learning Solutions has launched SimplyLearnt.com, an online marketplace where students appearing for entrance tests such as Engineering, Medical, MBA, NTSE (National Talent Search Examination) and IAS can search and buy digital courses and lectures from various coaching institutes and subject experts.

SimplyLearnt.com claims to have attracted over 2000 registered users since its launch in December 2008. According to SimplyLearnt, the website has so far partnered with 11 coaching institutes in Delhi including Narayana Institute, Sahil Study Circle, Sehgal School of Competition, Trump & Gates, MBA Guru, Building Blocks, ThinnkWare and GVC Systems. The company is also planning to tie up with more institutes from the Kota market.

“Education domain is very big in India. Merely, the test preparation market stands at a staggering $1.75 billion and there are estimates that 10 per cent of this market would move online -- making the size of the same to be $175 million. So, essentially it was the size of this market that got us excited,” Tarun Bhalla, CEO, SimplyLearnt.com, told AlooTechie.

Bhalla further said, “We have a strong belief that the only way to capture the online test preparation market is via an aggregation model. Word of mouth and branding plays a very important role in the education sector, therefore, if you try to sell a completely new brand it will easily take you five years to build a brand and sell. So, we took the call that we will resell other reputed brand’s content rather than our own.”

“The education sector is dominated by mid and small sized players who either do not have the money or the technical know-how to implement digital learning, essentially leaving a lot of room for a player like us to come and partner with them,” Tarun Bhalla said, adding, “SimplyLearnt.com also allows its partner institutes to embed and sell the digital content on their respective websites. This allows our partners to hold on to their own exclusive traffic on their site and we share the revenues on the courses sold.”

According to Tarun Bhalla, SimplyLearnt.com also has a feature called Study Groups where the progress of a student in any course can be monitored by another student pursuing the same course. However, students have an option to unpublish their reports if they don’t want to get their results compared by others.
