05 November, 2008
SpotOn Media , an initiative incubated by ValueFirst Messaging, has launched SmsMeOn , a personalized mobile identity service that allows users to acquire their own unique identity, commonly known as keyword on a short code, on the mobile. SmsMeOn is claimed to be the first platform in India which allows users to choose and block a ‘Keyword’ on mobile short code 56070 for free.

Priyaa Gupta, CEO, SmsMeOn.com, has said, “Just like email is a user’s identity on the web, SmsMeOn.com is a unique initiative which will for the first time allow both individuals and enterprises to get mobile identities of their choice on the mobile and will allow everyone the flexibility to use this identity for personal or business communication.”

This is indeed a great idea. I wonder why didn't Google think something like this before? They have a similar service which is more complex.

I am yet to experience the entire application, but the early feelers are very encouraging and I can sense how this service can be lapped up by individuals and SMEs in no time.

Once again congratulations to the founders for a very cool and powerful idea.
