Times Group in talks to acquire 20-30% stake in Dekhona.com

13 May, 2008
by Asfaq Tapia

According to a source in Dekhona.com, officials of Bennett, Coleman & Company Ltd (The Times Group) are in talks to acquire 20-30 per cent stake in the online video sharing company. In return, Dekhona.com will be allowed to leverage the existing Times group properties for marketing and promotional activities.

Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd, publisher of The Times of India and The Economic Times, has an open programme whereby it enters into agreements with companies. Under the agreement, which is called a Private Treaty, BCCL buys shares of small and fast-growing companies in return for guaranteed advertising and, quite obviously, favourable coverage in the Times group publications. this is one more stupidity by times group, a few of them are indiatimes.com. i don't understand what is new in dekhona.com because it has no good features, the streaming is slow and crappy, quality is so low, all the videos they are having are already present on youtube with high quality, content stealing from youtube ?

i mean you see all over dekhona.com there are videos of soft porn, it is completely useless to invest in such a website infact there are ready made scripts availiable for 400rs which you can get off the shelf and customise with ur branding even dekhona has done the same thing but just a little different they copied the colors from flickr.com of yahoo and customised the script more becuase u can see there are no additional features like mobile streaming or good content or thing like video editing, thumbnail selection which works on indian internet connection. i would still say indian video websites are out of business because youtube is here and yes youtube rocks.

only website worth investing in india is zoho.com
