21 August, 2008
Online travel community TripAdvisor, which is owned by US-based online travel company Expedia, has launched its local Indian site, TripAdvisor.in. TripAdvisor has also forged alliances with leading Indian online travel agencies including Travelguru, Yatra and Cleartrip.

TripAdvisor India aims to offer localised features, reviews and recommendations, providing comprehensive travel information to Indian travellers. Recently, TripAdvisor entered into a content syndication partnership with Cleartrip.com, wherein Cleartrip will display TripAdvisor ratings and reviews for hotels in India and 140 countries.

TripAdvisor and the sites comprising the TripAdvisor Media Network are operating companies of Expedia, Inc. (NASDAQ: EXPE).
With this partnership, Expedia may be trying to evaluate all the Travel sites, before acquiring one of them.
Intersting to note TravelGuru is not in the list.
