TripAdvisor plans to launch in India; appoints Sharat Dhall as MD

Travel community site TripAdvisor.com, which is owned by US-based online travel company Expedia, has appointed Sharat Dhall as managing director of TripAdvisor India. Dhall is currently managing director of Expedia India.

In his new role, Sharat Dhall will lead the launch of TripAdvisor in the Indian market, scheduled for later this year. According to the company, this will be TripAdvisor’s first foray into the Asia Pacific region.

Steve Kaufer, founder and CEO, TripAdvisor, has said, “We are very excited to bring TripAdvisor to Asia, starting with India, and are thrilled to have Sharat Dhall’s leadership and experience to guide us through the process.”

“TripAdvisor already has a substantial audience in India, which reflects the appetite the market has for trusted user content. I look forward to expanding our reach and to fully localizing our business to meet the unique expectations of the Indian market,” Sharat Dhall, managing director, TripAdvisor India, has said.
