Yahoo Mail leads email category in India; Gmail follows closely: ViziSense

23 July, 2009
According to data released by Komli Media’s online audience measurement and analytics platform ViziSense.com, Yahoo Mail, with 18.3 million unique users in India, leads the email category in the country, followed by Google’s Gmail which has 17.2 million users in the country. The other three leading email service providers in India are Rediffmail, MSN Mail and In.com Mail with 6.5 million, 4 million and 913,000 users respectively.

ViziSense.com, which has released its first monthly web rankings of the Top 5 websites across 18 categories, says that over 50 per cent of Indian internet users can be found on social networking and photo and video sharing sites. Interestingly, Orkut’s audience is almost 2.5 times the size of its nearest competitor, Facebook, in the social networking category. BharatStudent.com, Ibibo.com and Tagged.com appear to be the other three leading social networking sites in India.

Very right Joby, it is really surprising to see the entire content of the list. YahooMail tops email list... I have hardly seen ne1 use Yahoomail nowadays... Its accepted in the case of Orkut as indians are still not a fan of FB...(God knows why though!!!)

Again the top education sites are also questionable...
